Joint Conciliation Board of the Austrian Banking Industry

If no agreement can be reached regarding your complaint, you can contact the Joint Conciliation Board of the Austrian Banking Industry (JCBABI, "Gemeinsame Schlichtungsstelle der Österreichischen Kreditwirtschaft").

The JCBABI was set up for out-of-court settlement of disputes between consumers residing in Austria (or in another state of the European Economic Area) and a credit institution established in Austria or an institution within the meaning of Section 1 of the Austrian Banking Act with regard to obligations arising from a banking transaction in accordance with Section 1 of the Banking Act. It is also responsible for complaints by persons who are not consumers as long as an EU directive or a law – e.g. regarding payment services – provides the basis for such arbitration.

The JCBABI is established within the Federal Banking and Insurance Section of the Austrian Economic Chamber. Its independent ombudsman, who is not bound by directives, is in charge of the proceedings.
