Payment Infrastructure

RBI significantly expanded its position as clearing bank in the last years. The basis was its big engagement in the most important payment infrastructures - especially in the SEPA-Area. Through its active participation in national and international committees the development of those infrastructures was influenced decisive.

Recently RBI was working very intense for the participation of the Raiffeisen Banking Group in the national clearinghouse (Clearing Services Austria - CS.A) which went live in November 2011. CS.A is processing national formats as well as SEPA-formats.

RBI  is connected to the following national and international payment systems:

Clearing Service Austria (CS.A) - direct clearing member of the national clearing house CS.A. RBI offers other banks located in Austria a participation as "Leitwegbank".

SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) – RBI has been member since 1977 and is fully supporting the SWIFT community in fields of new developments.

SSP/TARGET2 (Trans-European Automated Real-Time Gross Settlement Express Transfer) – following TARGET, went live in November 2007. RBI is a direct participant of the Single Shared Platform (SSP)/TARGET2 and offers indirect participation to other banks. With TARGET2, a unified Europe-wide platform was established.

EBA EURO1/STEP1 - RBI is a direct clearing member of EBA (Euro Banking Association). Therefore we can offer STEP1 settlement.

EBA STEP2 - platform for the Pan-European Clearing House (PE-ACH), where RBI also acts as direct participant, is offering access for numerous connected Banks as well in the "old" XCT system, that enables to send EU regulated Payments, as in the new SEPA Credit Transfer Scheme (SCT) and SEPA Direct Debit Scheme (SDD Core and B2B).

SIX (Swiss Interbank Clearing) with the two payment systems SIX for CHF and euroSIX for EUR. RZB has been a member of the Swiss Interbank Clearing system since May 2005 and of the euroSIX system since Februar 2006.

EURO Priority Payments - the scheme was developed from EBA together with the European banks. Participation in the scheme guarantees the end-to-end processing of single credit transfers within four hours and thereby enables banks to offer urgent, intra-day credit transfers in euro to their customers. The participation of banks in this scheme is optional.

The channel to be used is selected by RBI according to a clear decision tree based on the priority of payment orders (urgent or standard), on the amount and on the time of receipt. Nevertheless we are prepared to offer correspondent banks to instruct us about the routing channels. Our main objective is to process our correspondents transactions most cost efficiently and time sensitively.

We offer you the possibility to download the up-to-date TARGET2 directory as well as the EURO Priority Payments directory for free:
