corona assistance fund

The total framework for all measures of the Corona Assistance Fund is EUR 15 billion, which can be used flexibly according to immediate needs. The liquidity needs of companies are to be covered by guarantees from the Republic and direct grants.

COFAG bridge guarantee for large corporates

In cooperation with Österreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB)

 

For the time being, the bridge guarantee (irrespective of the requested amount) applies to

  • companies with headquarters or business premises in Austria
  • with 250 or more employees or 
  • with an annual turnover of EUR 50 million and 
  • whose balance sheet total exceeds EUR 43 million 

(according to a recommendation by the European Commission 2003/361/EC of 6 May 2003)

 

For groups of companies, a separate application must be submitted for each company which claims a bridge guarantee. However, those applications may be submitted jointly for a group of affiliated companies.

COFAG bridge guarantee for sme

In cooperation with Austria Wirtschaftsservice (AWS)

 

The Federal Government has announced on 3 April 2020, that in addition to the far-reaching support measures, the AWS bridge guarantee for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) available since 12 March 2020 will be significantly extended.

This temporary relief made possible by the EU will be used nationwide. The new measures will be available from Wednesday, 08.04.2020 and published on the AWS website.

The following 3 SME guarantee facilities with risk coverage of up to 100 % can be granted.

Österreichische Hotel- und Tourismusbank GmbH (ÖHT)

 

Corona Assistance Fund: COFAG bridge guarantees

  • for up to EUR 1.5 million will be handled by ÖHT
  • for over EUR 1.5 million will be handled by AWS

 

Currently, the financing guarantee for small and medium-sized enterprises can also be claimed.

fixed costs subsidy

within the framework of the Corona Assistance Fund

 

Grants are awarded to cover fixed/operating costs for companies in the Corona crisis.

  • Applications for the first third of the fixed cost subsidy can be submitted from 20 May 2020 via FinanzOnline (no longer via AWS) with confirmation of the application by a tax consultant, auditor or accountant
  • The basis of assessment will be the company's fixed costs and loss of revenue from 16 March 2020 onwards and by the end of the Covid measures, but no later than 15 September 2020
  • Fixed cost subsidy valid for up to three months in the period 15 March to 15 September 2020
  • Subsidies under these guidelines must be applied for by 31 August 2021.

SMEs and large corporates in Austria

Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG (OeKB)

OeKB offers all export companies a special KRR (Kontrollbank-Refinanzierungsrahmen) framework credit for companies to compensate for the assumed decline in export turnover.

German businesses

Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW)

 

Prolonged until 31 December 2021

As part of the German government's package of measures, KfW loans are being expanded through the granting of guarantees and working capital financing.

hardship fund

Austrian Chamber of Commerce (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich, WKÖ)

 

The hardship fund is being settled by the Chamber of Commerce since 27 March 2020. This quick assistance should help pay for fixed costs such as rent in order to secure liquidity despite a high loss of revenues.

EIB Group support programs

European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Investment Fund (EIF)

 

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and RBI have arranged a EUR 100 million Corona aid program at the end of 2020. Further EUR 100 million are planned for 2021.

Austria Wirtschaftsservice

Tangible and intangible new investments (to be capitalised) in depreciable fixed assets by companies at Austrian locations will be subsidized in the form of grants.
