Why AI at a Bank Is Different from AI at a Tech Company

At a bank, AI decisions carry real regulatory and societal weight. That means the work is more complex, the governance more mature, and the impact on customers and communities is direct.

Main Differences from AI at a Tech Company

At a bank, AI decisions carry real regulatory and societal weight. That means the work is more complex, the governance more mature, and the impact on customers and communities is direct.

Real Regulatory Weight — and EU AI Act Compliance

We operate under strict banking regulation and the EU AI Act. That means every AI solution must be explainable, auditable, and compliant — not just performant.

Mature Governance, Bold Experimentation

Our AI governance framework is one of the most advanced in Central and Eastern European banking — yet we run over 160 production use cases.

How We Think About AI Careers at RBI

Three things we think about differently here — and why they matter more now than they ever did.

Starting a Career?

Advice for Students, Graduates and Career Switchers

By the time you graduate, will what you studied still be relevant? Honestly — some of it won't be. But your degree taught you more than you think. Learning how to learn, think deeply, and stay with a hard problem is worth more than any specific skill you picked up along the way.

Tipps for Students

Three things worth doing now - whatever you're studying:

Go Deep in your Field

But add the other dimension: data and coding for business students, real domain knowledge for tech students. People who bridge both worlds will be needed in the future.

Get comfortable with not knowing

Our education system rewards getting it right. AI work rewards figuring out what works — which means trying things that don't. Ask the question others are too embarrassed to ask.

Start small and stay consistent

You don't need to master AI before you begin. One article. One tool. One small experiment. Curiosity compounds — but only if you act on it.
